Bookyards
Our goal/dream is to be 'The Library of the World' in which books, education materials, information, reference materials, documents, and content will be provided freely to anyone who has an internet connection. By providing it in a format that will be both easy to use, useful and interesting, we strongly believe that we can then help in some small measure to reverse the trend that the Smithsonian Institute has discovered.
Google Books
Google Books helps you search within and discover books, not download or read books without paying for them. So when you find a book that's still under copyright, you'll see only a small portion of the book at a time–either the Snippet View or the Sample Pages View–plus links to places where you can buy or borrow it. If you find a book that's out of copyright, however, we're able to display the Full Book View. (You can read more about public domain books in Google Books here.)
Many Books
Many of the etexts are from the November, 2003 Project Gutenberg DVD, which contains the entire Project Gutenberg of Australia eBooks, due to copyright. As of July 2004 most current PG texts are available here, usually within the week of release. There are also public domain and creative commons works from many other sources. archives except for the Human Genome Project and audio eBooks.
Project Gutenberg
Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic books, or eBooks. Michael Hart, founder of Project Gutenberg, invented eBooks in 1971 and continues to inspire the creation of eBooks and related technologies today. Textbook Revolution
At Textbook Revolution, you’ll find links to textbooks and select educational resources of all kinds. Some of the books are PDF files, others are viewable online as e-books. Most books are aimed at undergraduates, but there are at least a few resources at every level, from kindergarten to post-doc. All of the books are offered for no-cost (gratis) by their respective copyright holders. Beyond that, each book is as individual as the author behind it.
The Global Text Project
Mass education has created tremendous opportunities and wealth for people in developed countries. It has enabled many to escape poverty, albeit a level of poverty that is not comparable to that of many in the developing nations. Mass education for the developing world is dependent among other things on finding low costs means of delivering free quality content to many. We believe we have the means for developing the necessary content and seek support to start an endeavor that can engage many for the benefit of many more.
The Online Books Page
The Online Books Page is a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. It also aims to encourage the development of such online books, for the benefit and edification of all. In the listings, you can start reading a book by clicking on or selecting its title (or on the phrase that describes where it is, if you're looking at a detailed book description, or at a listing that has multiple links).
